Privacy

Privacy at a glance

Kanavana is designed so you can explore the site without user profiles, tracking networks, or personal data harvesting. We collect only the minimum level of anonymized usage statistics needed to understand how the site works and how it can be improved.

What we do not collect

  • We do not build user profiles.
  • We do not track you across different websites.
  • We do not sell or share your data with advertising networks.
  • We do not link site usage to your name, email address, or other personal identifiers.

What we collect — and why

1) Anonymized usage statistics (Matomo)

We use Matomo analytics to understand general site usage, such as page popularity and navigation patterns.

Matomo is configured with privacy in mind:

  • IP addresses are anonymized (parts of the address are masked).
  • Data is analyzed only on an aggregate level, not to identify individual visitors.

Purpose: improving site functionality and content.

Legal basis: legitimate interest (service quality and development).

(If needed, we can also provide an opt-out option or respect browser “Do Not Track” settings.)

2) Contact requests

If you contact us (for example via a contact form or email), we process the information you provide solely to respond to your request.

Data: email address and message content (and any other information you choose to share).

Purpose: communication and customer support.

Retention: data is kept only as long as necessary to handle the matter or as required by law.

Cookies

Kanavana aims to operate with minimal and transparent use of cookies.

When analytics are configured without tracking or identifying cookies, a separate cookie banner is not required under current regulations; this information is provided here instead.

If we later introduce non-essential cookies (e.g. marketing or personalized tracking), we will provide a clear cookie choice before they are set.

Where data is processed

Kanavana aims to process data within the EU/EEA. Our infrastructure and analytics services are selected with European data residency in mind.

Data sharing and processors

We do not share personal data for marketing purposes.

We only use necessary technical service providers (such as hosting, email, and analytics). Where applicable, these providers act as data processors under GDPR.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • request access to your personal data (primarily relevant for contact messages),
  • request correction of inaccurate data,
  • request deletion of your data where legally possible,
  • object to processing based on legitimate interest (such as analytics).
